Retro Roundup: 2020-03-24

Let’s go back in time to 28th October 2014 and the very first edition of the Weekly Roundup!

Random Fact Nobody Actually Cares About
The Weekly Roundup started life after a team of Dubs won the Errigle Monday Night Pub Quiz. We wrote a mock race report about how we won and, believe it or not, this is how it was born! It is also why the report is published on a Tuesday.

Before we begin and on a personal note, as if things haven’t been bad enough recently, but my dog ran away so I went out looking for it for two hours. I got home and told the missus, and she suggested I should try looking harder. So, I got a tattoo and shaved my head, but I still can’t find the dog.  Just how did this first roundup look?

Welcome to (my) second edition of the Weekly Roundup! I like to think of it as the answer to the question nobody asked!

Dublin Marathon 2014
Major congratulations to everyone who took to the streets and ran about the Dublin Marathon yesterday. Everyone posted some stunning times – in fact, just like magic here are the club results:

parkrun (25th October 2014)
Oh yes, our favourite Saturday morning pastime was on this week, and as always we had a great showing from the Dub Runners. In fact, I just checked my back pocket – and the results are in:

Joanne & Gerard
As Brian mentioned earlier, we extend our congratulations to Joanne and Gerard on the birth of their baby boy!

Fun Fact: Hugh is five now, and Baby Claire is just four months old – awww!

Quiz
Ah come on – anyone want to have another go? We could bag ourselves another 24 bottles of beer towards the Christmas Party!

Fun Fact: A team of Dubs won the Errigle quiz the week before, which was the catalyst for starting a new Weekly Roundup after wee Eddie left the club!

Christmas Party
Have you voted yet? Forget the X Factor and Strictly – this is the vote that counts! Vote to decide the venue for the Christmas party.

Editor’s Note: we went to Cutters.

Disclaimer: Every effort (well, okay some) was taken to ensure the results above are correct. If you’d like to make a complaint then you’ll automatically volunteer yourself for writing duties next week 🙂
