It’s all about 10k forest race and parkrun this week – more over the jump.
Welcome to the latest edition of the weekly roundup. As I’m sure we’ve all noticed, the weather has taken a little bit of a turn for the worst (well, it is late November after all!!!), so it was great to see so many Dubs out there this week. My housemate thinks that he is so smart, he told me that an onion is the only food that will make you cry… So I threw a coconut in his face! Right then, results!
Run Forest Run: Gosford
Gosford Forest Park in Armagh was the venue for the second Born 2 Run Forest Run 10k series on Saturday. Quite a few brave Dubs were amongst the 500 competitors who braved the cold (almost freezing) weather conditions to take part in the race. Let’s have a look at how we got on:
These trail races are never easy, so really great running by each and every single one of you! Especially on an extremely tough and challenging course, which was a mixture of road and forest track – through dense woodland with many steep hills thrown in between – so well done all!
So this weekend the weather turned – the snow and icy winds arrived and our weeks of extra Indian summer weather is now a distant memory 🙁 With that in mind, it was impressive to see so many of us get the thermals on and head to the parks:
|Karen CARLISLE||00:24:10||Newbie PB!|
|Neil CURRAN||00:19:04||Newbie PB!|
|Natalie THOMPSON||00:21:11||First Female!|
|David MCILMUNN||00:20:09||New PB!|
|Stephen IRVINE||00:21:35||Newbie PB!|
|Mike SMITH||00:22:56||Newbie PB! 4 to go!|
|John BOYLE||00:23:21||New PB!|
Brrrr – that is some fantastic running in the severe, wintry conditions – you’re a credit for even getting up on Saturday morning! Special nods this week to Natalie who was first over the line at the Queen’s event! There were also new PBs set by Peter (at Queen’s) David (at Ormeau) and John (at Stormont). While newbie PBs this week went to Karen (at Victoria), Neil (at Queen’s), Stephen (at Ormeau) and Mike (at Stormont). Finally, as usual, only four more to go for Mike until he reahes the 50 milestone – all at different events!
That is it folks! Seeley Cip this weekend – then does anyone know of any parties happening that evening?! 😉 Sad news for any crossword fans this week, as the inventor of the crossword puzzle has died. May he (4, 2, 5)!
PS – Special thanks this week my “little birdie” who kept me informed of all the goings on while I was off sunning myself!
Keep on running!
