Weekly Roundup: 2015-05-05

It’s Tuesday – so it must be time for another weekly roundup!

Good evening folks.

Big week for the club this week, two of the bigger annual events took place in Beflast in the last week – the mile race and the marathon – we’ve got the full details below! I was at the ATM the other evening, and as I was about to walk away, an old lady asked me to help her check her balance – so I pushed her over. Moving on with the results…

NI Running Mile
Friday evening and the Dame Mary Peter’s track was host of the now annual NI Running Mile. Simple idea – run a mile as fast as you can around the track. For anyone who missed Tuesday night’s session (tut, tut) that is four full laps of the track plus a wee tiny bit extra. We had eight club members take part on the evening:

103Roisin Byrne6:33.45
108Neesa Agnew6:40.27
127Rebecca Fitzgerald7:19.56
146Jane Patterson8:39.70

Really well done to everyone, those are fantastic times and you should all be really proud (especially on a Friday evening after a week of working). Special mention to James who won the 7B race on evening – just the icing on the cake of a great evening for the club!

Ballymoney Triathlon
Saturday saw two club members take on their first ever triathlons!  They traveled all the way down to Ballymoney to go for a swim, a cycle and then a run…

Does anyone look happier to be at the finish!?

Well done to the both of you – PBs all round and all 🙂 maybe the club should give this a tri?!

Belfast Marathon
Despite the best efforts of the weather over the weekend, Monday morning set the perfect conditions for the annual Belfast marathon, and of course, being our local marathon we had a great club turn out:

It’s always nice to do your home marathon, so it was great to see so many Dubs running (and let’s not forget all of us who came out to cheer you all on too)!  Excellent PBs from Kate, Stephen and Marcy (who only went and beat her PB by 66 flippin’ minutes)!  It is a tough course, and it is never easy to run 26.2 miles so really, really well done to everyone!

Also, we had some club members taking part in the relay event: Paula, Kathy (leg 1), Ronan (leg 1 and 2) and Noel (leg 3) – not quite 26.2 miles – but still worth a mention!

Parkrun
It was a breezy but bearable morning for a run on Saturday, as half the club took to the parks to have a go at a 5k run. With Victoria celebrating four years of early start Parkruns at 9.30am every Saturday, we had a good representative of members there (among others):

First off – congratulations to Victoria on four successful years of Parkruns – here’s to many, many more! Well done to everyone for getting out on Saturday morning, special mentions to first time PB’ers Marcy and Kate (at Victoria) and Clare (at Queen’s). Then the first three Dubs home in Victoria all managed to get personal bests, really well done to James, Brian and Roisin!

Want your name here – simple, make sure you’re registered as a Dub Runner on your Parkrun profile!

Warmdown
Well that’s it for another roundup – please let me know if I have missed anyone or any races. There is so much going on right now, it easy to miss a race or two. Also if anyone would like to help out, just give me a shout too! I was having a fight with my missus the over the weekend, and she told me to stop impersonating a flamingo, well I just had to put my foot down!

That’s it – keep on running!

Live long a prosper.
