Weekly Roundup: 2015-07-21
Get that Tuesday feeling with the weekly roundup over the jump!
Warmup
For those of you who didn’t know, I was away for a few days, and was staying at a hotel that had a bed with no sheets or a duvet – you really couldn’t make it up… And moving on with the results!
Born 2 Run – Sea 2 Sky 10k
Friday evening saw the annual running of the “Sea 2 Sky” race in windy and damp conditions. The routes is over trail and road with views of Newcastle and the surrounding countryside. We had one Dub take on the course:
Pos | Name | Chiptime |
---|---|---|
412 | Victoria Orr | 00:58:24 |
Really well done Vicky, that is a fantastic time over quite a tough course (and on a Friday evening too)! I hope you enjoyed a well deserved rest after that.
Dervock Half Marathon
It was ideal, if a little windy for the annual Dervock Ards half marathon on Saturday morning into afternoon. The club had a great turn out for the tough but undulating route around the scenic countryside of Ballymena (including Game of Thrones territory). There was a great turnout from the club:
Pos | Name | Time |
---|---|---|
24 | Noel Kelly | 01:30:52 |
28 | Collette McCourt | 01:32:47 |
37 | Stephen Irvine | 01:35:25 |
41 | Mark Hamill | 01:36:06 |
49 | Paula Owens | 01:38:41 |
64 | Andrew McDermott | 01:42:09 |
74 | Marcella Cassidy | 01:43:13 |
122 | Aine Hughes | 01:54:17 |
125 | Jim Larkin | 01:56:05 |
128 | James Sheridan | 01:56:31 |
148 | Ronan O'Flaherty | 02:00:24 |
That was a great morning, with fantastic running from everyone in the club. I don’t think that there were any PBs on the day, but everyone did have a great time and there are even some photos (which I’ll get online in due course). Oh and by the way, that was race 7 out of ten in the Pure Running Half Marathon series for Jim, James and Ronan!
Parkrun
It was a little dull and cloudy for a run on Saturday morning, but that has never put anyone in the club off getting out for their free, weekly timed 5k run, and we have the results:

Congratulations to everyone for setting the alarms early at the weekend and taking to the parks. Special mentions this week, well done to Nessa who ran the Victoria event and was the first female over the line. Also well done on new PBs to Alex (at Queen’s) and David (at Ormeau)!
Warmdown
That’s it for another week, bit of a quiet week, but that’s good for a change. I have been thinking ahead to our Summer BBQ, and I had been looking at buying some fireworks for the event, but make sure the check the dates on them, the ones I was going to buy had all gone off!
Keep on running!
Live long and prosper.
