A correction, a sub-17 min 5k and parkruns (oh my) – more over the jump!
We’re nearly there folks, January is almost over – we can do it! At a glace, you’d be forgiven for thinking that it was a relatively quiet week for the club, but there were some very impressive times posted this week from our members. Before you take a closer look and with all the talk recently of the Lottery I asked the missus what she would do if I won? She replied “I’d take half of it and leave you!” “Great,” I replied “I just won £10 – here’s a fiver, now clear off!”

See, I am told nothing! Somethings I missed from last week’s roundup (see end of roundup), due to no fault of my own. First off, congratuations to Kate – who set a new PB around the course. There were also three extra Dubs missed from the results:
Apologies to David and Andrew (turns out some Dub guys where there after all [told you I am told nothing!!]), and also to Pippa – who finished in style in a hotly contested race to the flag!
What a change from last Saturday? After the brutal conditions last week, it was great to see normal service resume at 9:30am on Saturday morning at all the parks across the country. A damp but mild start greeted everyone who ventured out of the house to kickstart their weekend:
|Aine HUGHES||00:22:06||Newbie PB!|
|Nessa AGNEW||00:22:07||New PB!|
|James TRAINOR||00:16:57||First Male! New PB!|
|John MCCULLAGH||00:20:35||Third Male! New PB!|
|James SHERIDAN||00:23:48||Newbie PB!|
|Frances MC CAMBRIDGE||00:27:33||Third Female! Newbie PB!|
Woo-whooooo! Fantastic to see so many of us back out for our Saturday morning stroll this week! Special mentions this go to JamesT who was first home at the Queen’s event AND set himself a new course PB AND set his first sub-17 minute parkrun. Over at the Falls event John was third across the line AND set a new PB at the same time! While at her first attempt, Frances was the third girl across the line at the Colin Glen event. One other new personal best time this week came from Nessa (at Victoria), while we have two newbie PBs from Aine (at Victoria) and James (at Falcarragh).
Well, after a time of absence I have resurrected the disclaimer at the end of the roundup – so keep that in mind! As usual, make sure you let me know if there are any upcoming races that you’re taking part in. I must tell you all that I have been watching Bonnie Tyler’s “Goalkeeping Heroes” on DVD – it’s just totally clips of Joe Hart!
Keep on running!
Live long and prosper.
