Weekly Roundup: 2016-02-02

Our winter training season continues over the jump!

We made it!  Yes, January is now in the distant past and we can look forward now to longer evenings, more races and warmer temperatures!  Okay, two out of three isn’t bad!  Find out what the club has been up to this week a little later, but I was devastated this week – I lost my colouring book.  Thankfully, my missus gave me a shoulder to crayon…

Cultra Challenge
On Sunday there was a chance to take part in a historic run a Cultra!  We have two Dubs tackling the “folking” hills along the damp 10k route in County Down.  Let’s take a look at how they got on:

Really great times “folks”, you should be proud of how you both did.  I hope that you enjoyed your goodie bags, I know there was no food, but it was for charity after all!  Let’s face it – you were just thankful that the rain stayed off for you!

If it wasn’t Storm Gertrude then it was snow and ice facing us this weekend for the final parkrun of the first month of the new year. So despite what Mother Nature tried to throw at us, it was great to see so many familiar faces out in the parks:

First of all – that was a freezin’ morning to be out – so give yourselves a pat on the back for getting out there! Our special mentions this week go to Marcy (at Enniskillen), Sarah (at Ormeau) and Anne (at Colin Glen) who were all first home at their respective runs! Also, extend a job well done to Sarah who ran her first ever parkrun and to Anne for her newbie PB!

I am looking forward to covering all the upcoming races that everyone is training for in the next few  months – can I put out a plea, that if you’re watching a race, why not get our your phone and start taking some snaps if there are any Dubs taking part.  It’s always nice to add a few new photographs to the website.  Over the weekend I saw two snails fighting, I mean, they were really slugging it out!

Keep on running!

Live long and prosper.
