Weekly Roundup: 2016-06-14
Lots and lots and lots of results over the jump!
Warmup
We had a big club day out on Saturday – and from the sounds of things – it was an excellent day for everyone. More on that a little later, but I find it diffcult to take photos of myself when I am in the sauna – apparently I have selfie steam issues! Okay, the results:
East Antrim Harriers: Forest Trail Series, Race 3
Ballyboley Forest was home to the third race in the EAH’s forest trail series. The forest, which is just off the road to Larne, contains an undulating course on uneven ground – with a little extra heat to add in to the mix. We had a single Dub taking part:

I think we all know that I am not the biggest fan of trial races, so I applaud anyone who takes on these kind of races, so a massive hand to Maureen (in that heat too) for posting a great time. This wasn’t the only time Maureen raced this week…
Active Antrim 5 Mile Race
Only a short rest for Maureen until she was back at the start line for this multi-terrain race in Antrim. The route took runners along the loughshore before finishing on the athletic track at the forum:

93 | Maureen Oliver | 00:48:16 | --- |
Magic Maureen, that is some fantastic running – and on a course that is quite different to the EAH forest routes. You earned the right to put your feet up all weekend after racing so much during the week! Really well done!
Glenmore Challenge
On Saturday 11th June and Errigle of Dubs went to participate in the second running of The Glenmore Challeng. This is a 10 Mile road race with the route taking in the picturesque scenery of Glenmore valley, Cooley Peninsula, Co. Louth. One Dub decided to do the course on her bike, securing 1st place for the only cyclist. There was also a 5k Trail\Road route that one of our Dubs fancied the look of!

Absolutely magic running everyone. The ladies were down to defend their title of 1st ladies team while the men brought in the big guns, Mr Trainer, to help them secure the title. It was a warm day and the tough course didn’t stop the dubs bringing home plenty of trophies for 1st female, 2nd male and the ladies and men both claiming 1st team prize!
parkrun
Saturday morning was very much so the calm before the storm this weekend, as we cautiously woke up to (mostly) dry conditions before venturing out. While a good number of the club set off for Glenmore, a few of us set off for the various parks around the country:
Name | Time | Notes |
---|---|---|
Ronan O'FLAHERTY | 00:24:58 | |
Trevor MURPHY | 00:40:01 | |
Paul MCCREA | 00:24:41 | |
James SHERIDAN | 00:22:02 | New PB! |
Brian CONEY | 00:27:44 |
A slightly reduced number than ususal, but great to get out – and good to see a wide variety of events represented by the club. Just the one hat tip this week, goes to James S, who managed to set a brand new PB around the Stormont event route.
Warmdown
I’ll be honest, I’ve been sent a few photos from the last few big races for the club – I’ve just run out of time getting them uploaded to the website – so keep an eye on the gallery for those updates! I was wondering during the week there, what our parents did before the internet? I asked my 15 brothers and sisters and they have no idea either.
Keep on running!
Live long and prosper.
