Weekly Roundup: 2016-07-12
Greyabbey and the parkrun take centre stage over the jump!
Warmup
You’ve all been too kind to me this week – after a few quite intense weeks of running – we’ve taken a breather over the last seven days… although these lulls never last too long. Before we see what everyone has been up to, I wanted to tell you how over the weekend I was standing at the bus stop next to a heavily pregnant woman. I said politely “When’s it due?” She smiled and replied “Nine days.” I said “Nine days? Stuff that – I’ll start walking!”
Greyabbey 10k
Greyabbey, in Ards, hosted its annual 10k race on Friday evening. For those wondering, the course was a mixture of hilly back roads, flat forest paths before a final flat mile to the finish line. We had one single Dub out there:

Great running Mark, on a dry, if a little muggy Friday evening. A tricky course but worth it for the scenic route. A great start to the weekend – and an even better excuse to put your feet up for the entire weekend too!!
parkrun
With the warm, muggy conditions on Friday night, we went to bed hoping that Saturday morning was going to be much the same. As we embarked on our various 5k routes around the country, the rain started falling – and didn’t stop for most of the day. We had a soggy, Errigle of Dubs out and about on Saturday morning:

Magic running by everyone this weekend – the typical summer conditions made it a particularly poor morning for a run for an extra well done for making the effort to get out there! Just the one hat tip this week, and it goes to Kate (at Victoria), who managed to smash her course PB on Saturday morning!
Warmdown
… and done! A relatively, for the Dubs, quiet week this week. Giving me a chance to recover a little bit… speaking of which, with summer holiday season in full swing I’m planning a camping holiday, but I have to say, I’m far from impressed with my travel insurance. It turns out if someone steals my tent in the night, I’ll no longer be covered.
Keep on running!
Live long and prosper.
Disclaimer: Every effort (read: we’re on holidays!!) was taken to ensure the results above are correct. If you’d like to make a complaint then you’ll automatically volunteer yourself for writing duties next week 🙂
