Just a parkun, a great run in the north and a 10k over the jump this week!
Cue tumbleweed – as everyone appears to taking time off and / or training towards various races, so that leaves the roundup looking a little more empty this week. Before you get to the (brief) writeup, I have to tell you that I am wroried, my boss (in my real job), has just announced that he’s going to fire the employee with the worst posture – I’ve got a hunch it might be me. Now then, the results:
Mickey Annett Memorial 10k
Never heard of this one? Me either, but Mayobridge hosted a unique 10k race on Sunday afternoon, where we had one Dub taking part. I’ve been asked to tell everyone that it was basically a run downhill to the line and was extremely easy, taking is the sights of the County Down countryside:
|18||Aine Hughes||00:49:15||Second Female!|
Okay, I may have lied a little – that run was supposed to be extremely tough with relentless hills, so magic running Aine, a fantastic time and brining home some silverware just made the stormy winds feel a little less challenging! Great work!
Great North Run
If next weekend’s Belfast half marathon race isn’t for you – then how about one of the biggest half marathon races in the world? The annual race, which takes entrants from Newcastle upon Tyne to South Shields, is extremely popular, and very tough to get a place in. Luckily, we had one Dub line up at the start:
That is a cracking time Neil – and some great running! I also see on your Strava that you did very little training for it too – so that is an especially good time considering the circumstances!! I’m going to say this now, but no photos at all for us?!
Finally, as we do every week at HQ, the round off the roundup with the parkrun times. Casting a glance around the parks to see who was up and at it first thing on a Saturday morning – ready to have a go at the 5k. This week, in warming conditions, we only had a few Dubs out and about:
|Richard CONN||00:18:20||First Male!|
Great running folks – fewer in numbers than recent weeks, but still out representing the club! A big pat on the back to everyone for getting up arly, but we have just the single hat tip this week to Richard (at Queen’s) who was first home in the field!
Can I passs on my sincere thanks to everyone for the quiet week 🙂 Also Geraldine is hosting a pub charity pub quiz this week – please come along and support it if you can! Over the weekend, my friend bought himself a 2 litre tub of Tipp-Ex – big mistake.
Keep on running!
Live long and prosper.
