More on the Seeley Cup and pakruns over the jump!
Hard to believe another Seeley Cup has come around – my third to report on (in case anyone is keeping count). This race is just like the Toy Show, for runners, it marks the beginning of the build up to Christmas for everyone – right?! I was out for a walk last night when I witnessed a prison escape. I saw a midget climb up the fence and as he jumped down her sneered at me. I thought to myself ‘well that’s a little condescending!’ Now then, the results…
#OperationSeeley came to fruition this weekend after weeks of (higher) intensity training as the annual Seeley Cup 10k race took place in Ormeau Park. The three relentless, (mostly) flat loops of the park race was well attended by the club members participating and the Dub Cheering Club too – which in a very important role at races. Unlike previous years, there were ideal conditions on Saturday afternoon:
|51||James Trainor||00:34:17||Equaled PB!|
|190||Steven Todd||00:38:40||New PB!|
|262||Collette McCourt||00:40:03||New PB!|
|471||Nessa Agnew||00:45:18||New PB!|
Fantastic running by all the Dubbers who took part in the race – an impressive array of PBs too, just shows what a little bit of competitive training can do for the times! I think (and hope) I found everyone who raced on Saturday, using the photos that were taken I was able to get most people (despite their best efforts) included! I wasn’t able to make it this year, but we had two intrepid photographers who where on the scene to provide us a full gallery!
If you went to bed on Friday thinking that there was no way any parkruns would be running on Saturday morning – you couldn’t have been more wrong! The, let’s be honest about this, absolutely Baltic weather from Thursday and Friday subsided overnight to leave us with a damp, but dry morning in the parks. We had an Errigle of Dubs take to the parks:
|Eimear PHAIR||No Time|
|Philippa MACLARAN||No Time|
|Trevor MURPHY||No Time|
|Jim SIMONS||00:28:25||Newbie PB!|
That’s a great turnout this weekend – and some great times too! It is always great to see an array of different park being utilised as well. Great going folks! We have just got the one hat tip this week goes to Jim (at Stormont) who set a newbie PB!
Thanks to everyone who helped out with this week’s edition – to Steven, Paul and Gerard – every little helps. Best of luck to all the club members jetting off to Malaga for the marathon at the weekend. As much as I’d like to be there in the sun with you – please take some (usable) photos for me!! I spent the weekend trying to crack the music industry, and I managed to write a song about a tortilla – well to be honest, it’s more of a wrap.
Keep on running!
Live long and prosper.
