From a 10k to the parkrun all over the jump this week!
I think one thing we can all agree on, is that this was the longest month ever – and you can tell that we all are going easy on the racing as we prepare for the beginning of spring tomorrow (yeah, right). It’s around this time of the year that I remember my grandfather, and some of the best advice he ever gave me was “Turn that music down, it’s way too loud” – I’ll tell you, that was some sound advice. Moving on with the results!
Night Edition Mourne Way 10k
So when you’re planning your racing calendar, and you want to do a 10k, you immediately think “I know, let’s do a trail route, in the Mournes AND at night – what could possibly go wrong?!” This race should have been brought to you by (band name here), as a collection of intrepid Dubs tackled the tough route:
Bloody great running folks, from what I hear the conditions were ideal for a race, but the darkness just made the whole thing very near impossible. I hear that there were two fallers, I won’t name names here, but I hope Collette and Steven are okay after that run! We even were sent an exclusive image of all the Dubs who took part:
Thankfully, the icy conditions from recent weekends were just a distant memory this week. It was great to see many different parks seeing the Dub Runners blue this weekend, as nearly everyone (or that how it seems to me) from the club was out and about early:
|Roisin BYRNE||00:22:43||Second Female!|
|Alison CRAWFORD||00:31:29||Newbie PB!|
|Kathy MAYHEW||00:25:54||Third Female!|
|Pippa MACLARAN||00:31:50||Newbie PB!|
|Eimear PHAIR||00:24:55||Newbie PB!|
Magic running everyone – no ice, but very chilly conditions, and not quite PB weather just yet – so some good wholesome Saturday morning exercise for us all! Some hat tips this week all go to the girls, second home at Victoria was Roisin while Kathy took the last podium spot in Sligo. Some newbie PBs this week set by Alison (at Ormeau), Eimear (in Gdansk) and Pippa was doing time at Wormwood Scrubs!
It’s all over for another week, thanks to Steven for his help this week. It’s looking like the first big club event is going to be Carlingford – so I’m hoping for plenty of PBs and pictures to accompany it! Over the weekend I was given the opportunity to invest in the Egyptian building industry. After some consideration, and running the numbers, I realised that it was just a pyramid scheme.
Keep on running!
Live long and prosper.
