Weekly Roundup: 2018-06-19
We’ve results from the latest Hill & Dales and the parkrun over the jump!
Warmup
Having fully recovered from my holidays, eagerly sitting down to examine the deluge of results coming my way – imagine my surprise (and a little joy) to discover that there’s only two events that required my attention this week! Not one to complain, I’ll leave that to others this week, find out real soon what we’ve been doing, but let’s keep the educational theme going this week – did you know that the first French Fries were not actually cooked in France? They were cooked in Greece. Enough of that, results time!
Hill and Dales, Race 9: Meels
This week’s penultimate Hill & Dales set off form the optimistally named ‘Happy Valley’ – especially with the ever-looming threat of incoming rain. A huge climb though Meelberg and Mellmore’s jagged granite teeth, followed by a short loop between the peaks. One final climb with aching legs before an insane bouching run over heather and rocks to the finish. Who’d be the crazy Dubs willing to do this one:

Nice running folks from out Goat Duo this week – lots and lots of altitude this week, you deserve air miles! Two very happy Dubs (post-race) with their only complain that there wasn’t enough running over the course (not evening joking, that was a complaint!) A hat tip to our Pocket Rocket who was fifth lady home on the night – outstanding. Before heading for home, there’s always time for a selfie:
parkrun
I suppose that the weather had to break at some stage – just a shame it fell on parkrun morning. That’s not to say that we had to run in the elements this week, as most skies seemed to clear moments before we set off in the parks on a new adventure. Some rain though, clearly, doesn’t put the Dubbers off:

Nice work everyone – some fantastic running and some great wee times posted too (not that parkrun is about times). Let’s begin the litany of hat tips this weeks, with two second placers from Bernie (at Queen’s) and from Kathy (at Sligo) – who also set herself a new PB on the course! Then for the first time in recent weeks we completed the podium with our sometimes Dub JT who was third home at Queen’s. Despite conditions we had some excellent running for new PBs set by Peter (at Queen’s) and Steven (at Wallace). Good work team Dub!
Warmdown
That must be one of the shortest editions since the New Year – clearly the club is carefully and secretly training towards some big goals and races in the near future. Don’t forget if you can’t or aren’t running in any races, the club could really use your support to cheer on members (and the odd photo wouldn’t hurt either)! Chatting with the folks over the weekend, we remembered when I was little my dad used to feed me alphabet soup, claiming that I loved it. I didn’t really – he was just putting words in my mouth.
Live long and prosper.
Disclaimer: Every effort was taken to ensure the results above are correct (I’ve not many excuses this week…) If you’d like to make a complaint, then you’ll automatically volunteer yourself for writing duties next week 🙂
