Weekly Roundup: 2020-09-08

Covering a further two 2020 races over the jump!

Warmup
Back to the land of 2020 races this week, with the return of the roundup. Two events, Saturday and Sunday for what we now consider a jam packed weekend!! For anyone asking, its true, the missus has left me because I am beginning to go bald – I don’t mind but its hair loss. Okay, let’s get going:

Down Royal
Anyone know an analogy with buses we could use here?! Back to Down Royal but a slight change in the format with a 5k, 10k and 10 mile event this event this time. This time we had a trio of Dubs all in the same distance race, once and a bit around the course in some nice conditions. Let’s take a look at who was running this Saturday morning:

45Alastair Rodger00:17:42New PB!
65Rob Walker00:18:30---
191Nuala O'Connor00:27:02---

Boom! Oh yeah, that’s what we like to see – hard running, nothing left in the tank and everything left on the course. Brilliant running from the three of you, and a special nod to Alastair on setting his brand new 5k PB too!

Magical Mystery 50k
Believe it or not, races are happening away from Down Royal too! The mystery revealed itself, up until the start, runners had no idea where from or too they were running, only the distance of 50km was known. The route, this time, in fact was from Sprucefield to Newtownards, all self navigated and unsupported with a detailed instruction book. Sounds like a race for..?

5Steve Todd04:54:00---

Big congratulations Steven – that was a challenge and a half, and one you had been targeting for quite some time. Apparently (according to the main man) this was quite an enjoyable run, including the Lagan towpath (and a wave to our Sunday crew), taking in the iconic Big Fish and even a jaunt on the Comber Greenway. Steve rolled up to Ards with sore but satisfied legs.

Warmdown
Nicely down everything, and thanks to our little spies who continue to feed top secret information to us here at Roundup Towers. Keep it up and let us know if are racing and think we might miss it. I got myself a new car recently, went for a Tesla to try and go green. Love it so far, but really disappointed to discover that they don’t have that new car smell, its more of an Elon Musk.

Live long and prosper.
