Weekly Roundup: 2020-10-13

We visit Down Royal again over the jump!

Warmup
Here, when did it become October?! Usually about now we’re building up to Dundrum GR8 and Dublin Marathon races, but 2020 strikes again – but thar doesn’t mean we can’t make the best of a bad situation (more on that in a minute). Over the weekend, I have met the only over 65 to have ever won three bingo games in a row – Jerry Hat-trick. Did someone mention Down Royal?

Down Royal Race Series
The weekend the focus shifted back to Down Royal Race course, only this time there was a trio of events being held on the mostly flat track. The Half Marathon race was seven laps and a tiny wee bit, while the 10k race was three laps and a tiny wee bit, with the 5k event taking in one and a bit laps. We had quite the Dub turnout:

10k Race
43Victoria McCartney00:43:58New PB!

Well – what can we say about this one – magic running from all our blue tops racing on Saturday morning and afternoon. Special mentions need to go out to Katherine who not only set a new half marathon PB and was second female across the line too. Vic has been quietly training away during lockdown and it paid off with a superb new 10k personal best time over the 10k distance. All the times posted were great – all that training is really paying off! Let’s wrap this up with some photos:

Cooldown
Photos are becoming harder to find (for obvious reasons). So if you are racing over the coming months, could you grab a selfie and send it through please?! Basically it means less work for me and it is nicer to look at photos than read anything we write here! Big news, I just found out that I won a competition for weather puns. It was totally unexpected – I beat the raining champion!

Live long and prosper.

Disclaimer: Every effort was taken to ensure the results above are correct (this isn’t much of a threat anymore is it?!) If you’d like to make a complaint, then you’ll automatically volunteer yourself for writing duties next week! 🙂
