Weekly Roundup: 2020-12-15

It’s a windy return to the roundup over the jump!

It’s been a while, but here we are again. For any newbies (or anyone who doesn’t remember) this is our window on the club – we want to put your name in lights when you have been racing. NO matter the event, the monkey in Roundup Towers will work hard to get your results up here (it helps if you tell us too). In a quick update in other news, over the weekend I got diarrhea, hemorrhoids and eczema – it was the best Scrabble game ever! Let’s see how we have been racing:

The Lighthouse Run
We Run Wild are becoming famous for their whacky races. On Sunday morning not only was it windy but it was also pouring with rain. The course was from Carrickfergus to Whitehead, past Blackhead Lighthouse (see how they got the name?!) and then way out past the Gobbins (and back), with a huge (read: massive) hill up to Ballygarry, and then down a couple of flooded lanes before home. Using a road book as usual – standard. We had one Dub in the running:

4Katherine Harkness03:49:511st Female!

Outstanding work Katherine – made to earn your Sunday dinner this week! This was no ordinary race and anyone who follows Katherine on the socials will knows that not only was it very, very windy but a wave literally broke over the runners – which (and I’m quoting here) “was hilarious, but ankle deep water and soggy shoes from mile 5 was not!”. First woman home overall too, even though she started a half hour down on the first wave of runners – was just the icing on the cake of a great day’s running.

A soaked but very happy Katherine!

If you have been racing, like our Katherine, collect a wee selfie and fire it over to us! It is much better looking at club photos than trying to read us babbling on and on and on and on and on… Oh, I nearly forget, that with the restrictions eased, I decided to go out for dinner at the weekend and had a prawn cocktail thrown at me. I looked around shocked and the waiter at me “Yeah – and that’s just for starters!”

Live long and prosper.

Disclaimer: Every effort was taken to ensure the results above are correct (that is even if there is one next week!) If you’d like to make a complaint, then you’ll automatically volunteer yourself for writing duties next week! 🙂
